The Science Of Hair Extensions And Wigs

You're likely to notice that models undergo many cheap hair extensions changes during fashion shows. During the first run, a model may sport long, straight, black hair. For the second run, the same model may come out on the runway with short, curly, blonde hair. To be able to change their hairstyles quickly and conveniently, models use wigs and hair extensions.

Wigs and hair extensions are artificial structures that are primarily used to cover thinning hairlines and bald heads. Many people think these structures are the same, but, technically, the latter's functions are more limited. Hair extensions are commonly used by fashion-oriented individuals who want to change their hairstyle in an instant. These extensions can be easily attached to naturally-grown hair, to allow an individual to portray the appearance of having long hair.

On the other hand, wigs are artificial hair structures that cover the entire scalp. Unlike hair extensions, wigs are equipped with caps that hold the hair strands; these caps are fitted onto the wearer's scalp. Wigs are often used by people who want to drastically change their hairstyles without exerting too much effort. These hair structures can also prove to be useful for people are suffering from medical conditions that result in hair loss .

Hair extensions can be placed in different ways. They can be weaved in, fused, glued, or clamped. Using specialized glue, wax, or polymer, 20 to 50 strands of extensions can be laid on the body or tips of the natural clip in hair extensions. Some high-quality extensions require the use of metal rods for secure fastening. On the other hand, wigs such as Sepia wigs are secured onto the scalp through clips and pins. These methods are considerably safer than the chemical substances used to fit extensions on natural hair strands.

Some say that these chemicals commonly used to secure hair extensions cause damage to the natural hair. Extensions need to be removed occasionally, to allow natural hair strands to 'breathe' or 'rest'. These structures also have to be retouched to maintain their color and texture. Unlike wigs such as Sepia wigs, hair extensions tend to leave chemical residues on hair strands when taken out.

Despite this, many people love wearing artificial hair structures such as Sepia wigs. These people deal with hair damage by consulting professional hairdressers regarding the dos and don'ts of wearing synthetic hair structures.
